System design and scale
Requirements and failure modes first, then data scale, capacity, performance, and cost.
Design from constraints, then test the design against scale
Start with what the system must do, the workload it must handle, and the failures it must survive. Then examine how caches, partitions, replicas, queues, and capacity limits change the design.
This part keeps the system-design method beside the scale and performance mechanisms needed to defend an interview answer. Estimates are inputs to a decision, not decoration added after drawing the architecture.

- CH 09
System design under constraints
Turn requirements, workload estimates, and failures into an explainable design.
- CH 10
Data systems at scale
Reason about caches, replication, partitioning, streams, and coordination.
- CH 11
Capacity, performance and cost
Measure bottlenecks and defend capacity and cost decisions with units.
